Sexual abuse of Gaza detainees in Israeli prisons going rampant

"...Palestinian rights organizations have revealed disturbing accounts of ongoing sexual assault against Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons. In a joint statement released on Wednesday, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, along with the Palestinian Prisoners Society, detailed harrowing testimonies from detainees in the al-Naqab and Ofer prisons.

The joint statement confirmed that acts of rape and sexual assault continue to be inflicted on Palestinian detainees, particularly those abducted from Gaza. "Rape and sexual assaults against Gaza detainees are ongoing", the statement declared.

One testimony described a method of abuse used by guards in Ofer prison, "In Ofer camp, guards intentionally restrain detainees and repeatedly insert a stick into the detainee's anus until he feels he is suffocating".

The account further noted that guards escalate the abuse in response to the victim’s pain.

"The more the detainee screams in pain, the more the guard intensifies the abuse", the detainee reported..."

US House set to vote on bill of fines, prison for boycott of Israel

"...The US House of Representatives is set to vote on a controversial bill that proposes fines or prison terms for Americans participating in boycotts of Israel or Israeli settlements, promoted by international governmental organizations such as the UN or EU.

The House is scheduled to vote Monday on the contentious anti-boycott act, which seeks to penalize American citizens with fines up to $1 million or prison terms as long as 20 years for boycotting the Israeli regime.

Sponsored by pro-Israel congressmen Mike Lawler and Josh Gottheimer, the bill will broaden the US anti-boycott law by targeting voluntary, values-based political actions undertaken by American citizens.

The underlying objective is to shield the Israeli regime from non-violent international pressure campaigns, notably the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement (BDS).

Rights groups warned that the legislation will criminalize constitutionally protected political expression.

Airlines extend suspension of Israel flights after Yemen’s attack on Tel Aviv airport

"...A number of foreign airlines have extended cancellations of their scheduled flights to the Israeli-occupied territories following a Yemeni missile attack at Tel Aviv's main airport.

The airlines suspended service to Israel on Sunday after a Yemeni hypersonic ballistic missile landed inside the perimeter of Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport and injured six people.

On Monday, the Lufthansa group of carriers - which also includes SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines - said that it was extending its cancellation of all flights to the occupied lands through May 11, after previously suspending them through May 6.

Air France and Hungary's Wizz Air also prolonged their cancellations through May 13 and May 8, respectively..."
