Farm murder shock Rawsonville community

The small community of Rawsonville in the Western Cape is in shock after the death of the wife of a well-known farmer in the area during a strange farm attack.
Hennie du Preez’s wife Anthea (64), of the Du Preez Wine Estate’s body was found Monday morning in her home.
“I knew her personally. She was a very good wife and a very humble person. It was a great shock to us,” said Sammy Goedeman DA councilor of the town on Monday to Marula Media . “I do not know exactly what happened, but I know Hennie was very safety conscious, so it’s strange how such a thing could happen there.”
Captain FC van Wyk, a police spokesman of the Western Cape, confirmed that the police were investigating a case of murder. “Information about the incident are still sketchy. Police and forensic teams are still on the scene to gather information,” said Van Wyk.
It is not yet disclosed how she was murdered or how many suspects were involved in the alleged attack. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to the estate’s website the Du Preez family makes wine since 1926.

A Warner Beach family was left traumatised and badly shaken after their son was attacked in his bed and chopped with a panga in the early hours of Tuesday, 2 December.

Lily Herbert said her, her husband and daughter were awoken at about 2.20am by the sound of breaking glass.

“When I walked into my son, Shaun’s room, a man was on top of him, attacking him,” she said.

The man jumped back out the window he had broken to gain access to their MacDonald Lane home and fled with his accomplices.

Shaun (21), who is anaemic, was cut under his arm on his left side, a muscle was chopped off his shoulder and he lost a lot of blood. “The man also tried to strangle him,” said Lily. “They didn’t take anything, I don’t know what their intentions were. They could have killed all four of us.”

She praised the CCPO, who she said responded within four minutes and stayed with the family while Shaun was transported to hospital. He underwent surgery on Tuesday and it is hoped he will make a full recovery.

“The family is so scared, we didn’t sleep on Tuesday night. I am devastated. Enough is enough. We are so angry.”

More than 3,500 babies were abandoned in South Africa in 2010. More recent estimates are not available: there are no centralised registers maintained of child-abandonment incidents. There are more than 5.2million orphans in South Africa. Over 11 million children were registered for chilld-support grants. Yet white children are denied government-grants, it has been recently revealed when child-care homes started reaching out to the news media to report their plight in caring for white children.

This indicates that most of the 11-million child-support grants last year, were sent to black children, children of mixed-race or children of Indian descent. Itecently came to light when the Gracia Children- and Youth Home in Pretoria informed the news media that they were denied any child-care grants from the South African government 'because too many children in our home were white.' There are 60 children in the home which thus rely totally on private donations from private charities to help in their survival.

Woman tied to a tree and gang raped

A woman from Bloemfontein was tied to a tree, and three men took turns to rape her, said the Free State police. Const. Peter Kareli, police spokesman, said on Wednesday the 24-year-old woman went on her way to her sister’s school along the N8 when she was stopped by three men. The men threatened her with a knife, and dragged her into nearby fields. The men allegedly assaulted her after they took off her clothes and gang-raped her. A passerby apparently saw what happened and called the poiice. Two of the men had already fled when the police arrived on the scene. The other man was caught red-handed, where he was busy raping the woman.

Andre Rheeder of Polokwane was attacked on Friday night at his sister’s farm near Louis
Trichardt with machetes. In the attack mobile phones and guns were stolen. His forearm was broken in two places. He had to get 48 stitches in his face and his left eye will be removed on Monday. He is still in hospital in Louis Trichardt.
