John Lennon said: It came in a vision - a man appeared on a flaming pie and said unto them, From this day forward you are Beatles with an A. Thank you Mister Man, they said, thanking him. The quote was part of a Capitol Records promotional interview for the Jan. 20, 1964 American release of Meet the Beatles!. Lennon was explaining the origin of the Beatles name to a local music paper called Mersey Beat.
