Israeli torture of Palestinian healthcare workers exposed: HRW report


"...Former detainees, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, have reported severe mistreatment while in Israeli custody. Their accounts include experiences of humiliation, beatings, forced stress positions, prolonged cuffing and blindfolding, and denial of medical care. Additionally, they described instances of torture, including rape and sexual abuse, as well as inadequate conditions for the general detainee population.

"The Israeli government's mistreatment of Palestinian healthcare workers has continued in the shadows and needs to immediately stop,” said Balkees Jarrah, acting Middle East director at Human Rights Watch.

“The torture and other ill-treatment of doctors, nurses, and paramedics should be thoroughly investigated and appropriately punished, including by the International Criminal Court (ICC),” he added..."


"...A detained paramedic, who was moved to the al-Naqab prison after 20 days at Sde Teiman, recounted that a man visibly "bleeding from his bottom" was brought in and placed next to him. The man informed the paramedic that before his detention, "three soldiers took turns raping him with an M16 [assault rifle]. No one else knew, but he told me as a paramedic. He was terrified". In addition, a doctor said while he was detained in a military base, a detainee, "in his late 30s, crying hard … told me he was sexually assaulted during the strip search".

Human Rights Watch has found that for decades, Israeli authorities have not provided credible accountability for the torture and other abuses inflicted on Palestinian detainees. Official Israeli statistics reveal that from 2019 to 2022, 1,830 abuse complaints were filed against Israeli Prison Services officers, yet none led to criminal convictions. Additionally, since the war on Gaza began, Israeli authorities have denied independent humanitarian agencies access to Palestinian detainees..."

US provided 'Israel' with intel during Hezbollah's response: Pentagon

"...The United States provided intelligence support to "Israel" during Hezbollah's retaliatory operation on Sunday, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder said in a press briefing on Monday.

"We did provide some intelligence surveillance reconnaissance support, ISR, in terms of tracking incoming Lebanese Hezbollah attacks, but did not conduct any kinetic operations as they were not required," he said.

Israel receives 500th aircraft with military supplies from US

"...Israel on Monday received its 500th aerial shipment of weapons and military supplies from the United States as part of a large-scale logistical effort that began with the outbreak of the war following Hamas's Oct. 7 massacre.

The operation is a collaboration between the Israeli Defense Ministry's Directorate of Production and Procurement and Mission to the United States, the IDF's Planning Directorate and the Israeli Air Force.

Over 50,000 tons of military equipment has been delivered to Israel via 500 flights and 107 sea shipments as part of the initiative..."

MIT denounces distribution of Mapping Project flyers at orientation

"...Anti-Israel flyers featuring a link to an interactive map of Jews and Zionists in Massachusetts were distributed at Monday's orientation for new Massachusetts Institute of Technology students, MIT President Sally Kornbluth said in a Wednesday statement condemning the flyers and project.

Several students had handed out flyers that said "welcome to MIT!" next to a drawing of the university's mascot, said Kornbluth. The flyers commented on conflict in Middle East and Israel with links to materials including the controversial Mapping Project.

Kornbluth wished to clarify that the flyers were not official MIT content and denounced the Mapping Project, which catalogs and maps the supposed connections of Jewish and Zionist organizations, synagogues, universities, businesses, schools, media outlets, and law enforcement agencies and their ostensible relationships to Israel and the US government.

"While I have repeatedly defended freedom of expression, I must tell you that I found some of the websites cited on the flyers deeply concerning", said Kornbluth. "I believe the Mapping Project promotes antisemitism. Like every other form of racial and religious prejudice and hate, antisemitism is totally unacceptable in our community. It cannot be justified, and it is antithetical to MIT’s values"..."

3 Israeli officers killed in shooting operation in south West Bank

"...Three Israeli police officers were killed in a shooting operation in the southern West Bank governorate of al-Khalil on Sunday morning, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported.

'Depraved': Israeli soldier who raped Palestinian detainee lionized on Israeli TV

"...In early August, CCTV footage from the notorious Israeli Sde Teiman prison, located in the al-Naqab desert, went viral. It showed a bunch of Israeli soldiers sexually assaulting a Palestinian detainee.

The gruesome footage showing the inhumane treatment of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons grabbed news headlines globally with many human rights campaigners denouncing the occupation.

According to Ramy Abdu, the chairman of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, Israel has deliberately killed or tortured to death over 70 Palestinian detainees in its custody since October last year.
