For anyone still doubting that America is a nation that has long since run out of ideas just take a nine minute look at the speech given by that graying eminence Mike Pompeo, at the Republican National Convention (July 18 2024). To a light smattering of polite applause Pompeo engaged in a rather desultory box ticking exercise or laundry list about the so-called achievements of the Trump Administration. Slimmed down from the obscene weight he had ballooned up to while in office due to the wonder of surgery, what he had on offer was all banal ballyhoo and bestial lies but then that is par for the course for these egregious creatures who stride the stage as our leaders. He started out by saying that when Trump was President “our Southern Border was closed.” This may satisfy collective amnesiacs but for those with two eyes wide open it was a jaw dropper. They say he was number one in academics at West Point when he was there and on the Law Review at Harvard but if that really is true it must have been a real weak field he was competing against; because this man does not even know the meaning of the word “closed.” It means of course no one gets in and having been around long before the day before yesterday I know that simply was not the case. After all not every flat faced brown moron I see at 7-11 can have only come across since he left office; and I certainly don’t remember them going on any deportation sprees. So it’s just another lie from the liar in order to make the rubes in the Uncle Sam hat listening to him think they solved the border crisis and can do it again. He then went on to speak of various foreign policy “victories” that, even if they occurred, no one cares about as the bigger problem for most of us is that their once beloved America has been turned into a foreign country. He then spoke of his true and only love, the country called Israel, and that the Administration he was a part of treated this fiend like a “friend.” Of course Israel is more than a friend to him, Israel is his be all and end all, and the thing he thinks about night and day figuring out more and more ways to please them. The fact is he sold his soul to Jews long ago and did it for a pittance of fame and some money, and he has no plans ever to ever abrogate that deal. He said our Southern Border is now a welcome mat for Chinese spies, Islamic terrorists, drug dealers, and violent criminals; but that is missing the point; those in that category might be a fraction of a percent of the ones who come across, and not one word was said about the low IQ negros and mestizos who violate our sovereignty and to not do so is to miss the forest for a few trees. For the race swamping we experience is not a “national security” threat in the sense that he means it and as he frames it; even if every single one of the interlopers were peaceable as could be it is a racial threat and a civilizational threat; but he has that cold war mentality from having (as he will tell you without end) patrolled the Iron Curtain and so can’t (or won’t) see things that are most basic. And then he gave the requisite paean to America as what a free nation should look like but if that is so who on earth would want anything to do with freedom? All in all it was a poor performance that could have been cribbed from a collection of bromides and platitudes; he mimics sincerity and mimics passion but there was not a grand statement beyond elect us because there are no great thoughts is in his head, except perhaps when a speech writer is tasked with supplying it to him replete with grandiose historical examples. You hear it said that this man is Captain America, the best a country can offer; that with his “breadth” of experience he has ascended to the level of the statesman; but anyone can see plain as day he’s just one more hack and does only a hack’s job well. Lying to the people he is supposed to lead, saying that the victory for his side would make any difference; it might make a difference for him, he might get to go back in the limelight and “work for the America he loves.” But to expect any serious thought outside of the shopworn “defending freedom” and the tired “we are God’s nation” is vain indeed. All he has to offer is an obvious fatigue weary with age—and the impossibility of anything better.
