1791: Michael Faraday, self-educated British physicist and chemist, and one of the greatest scientists of all time, is born in Newington Butts, England.

It was from Faraday's discoveries that I learned electrical capacitance and the measurement (incidentally called the Farad) of it was about. Capacitance, I believe, is the amount of electrical charge that can be stored and released in a controlled manner. It's use in conditioning an electrical signal to perform in a variety of ways is often in circuitry that controls most every electronic device and in power transmission applications we use daily. It's in your car, your computing device, and is in power substations near your neighborhood.
