Individualism and the Western Liberal Tradition:
Evolutionary Origins, History, and Prospects for the Future
by Kevin MacDonald
Available on Amazon.com, under $25.
Short comment by Dr. Virginia Abernethy about this new book:
Delighted to learn that Kevin MacDonald, author of an outstanding trilogy and a well-known professor of sociobiology, has published a new book.
Most historians and other students of western culture would agree that it is characterized by individualism, as MacDonald asserts. This trait fosters competitiveness, having high personal goals, accepting responsibility, and a propensity to innovate. The downside is that individualists are at a disadvantage when confronting those whose primary identification is with a group. Sheer group numbers too often prevail over the talented individualist.
