Study Shows Most White Americans Don't Have Close Black Friends

Despite all the talk about our supposedly post-racial society, friend groups among Americans remain starkly segregated.

A recent study conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute[1] showed that 91 percent of the average white American's closest friends and family members are white, and just 1 percent are black. While black Americans tend to have a more diverse social network, they don’t fare much better. The average African American has 83 percent black confidants, 8 percent white confidants, 2 percent Latino confidants, zero Asian confidants, and 3 percent mixed-race confidants. One of the most glaring statistics from the study showed that when asked to name their closest friends and family members, 75 percent of white Americans didn't name even one person who was not white...

Switzerland 'world's happiest place'


Happy Swiss

The land of clocks and chocolates is the world's happiest country, according to a new survey.

Switzerland topped the third annual World Happiness index produced by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), an initiative under the United Nations.

It was closely followed by Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Canada.

Togo, Burundi, Benin and Rwanda, with civil-war wracked Syria, were least happy.

White Women Need to Stand in Solidarity With Their White Brothers

The rather coarse title of Ms Goldenburg's Huffpost article below should alarm any White females who consider themselves feminists, in the accepted, anti-feminine sense of that word. They should see the folly of being lumped in with "other minorities" and against their own White men.

In a video posted on the Huffington Post’s Facebook page titled, “Why We Need To Talk About White Feminism,” Zeba Blay, a culture writer at HuffPost Voices, and Emma Gray, the senior women’s editor for the Huffington Post, explain why “White Feminism” is “so problematic.”

In the video, “White Feminism” is defined as “feminism that ignores intersectionality.” The video does not provide any more details about what that means.

“So, not all feminists who are white are White Feminists,” Blay reasons. “But most White Feminists are [youtube]white because white people just don’t have to think about things like race on a daily basis,” Gray, who is white, elaborates.

“And we’re not just ‘pulling the race card,’” Blay claims. “White feminism excludes the experiences of basically, anyone who’s not white, cis and straight.”

The girls then go on to explain why this White Feminism is “so problematic.”

The reasons given for why White Feminism is so “problematic” include the notion that different races experience misogyny differently, the proclamation that it’s wrong for white feminists to fight for “equal pay” when there’s a greater wage disparity between women of different races, the idea that “police brutality should be viewed as a feminist issue,” and the statement that “white feminism ignores the role that whiteness plays in creating things like beauty standards.”

Although the video claims, “Critiquing White Feminism isn’t about silencing those [white] women,” it concludes with the statement, “Because sometimes, as white ladies, we just need to shut the f**k up.”
