How Do You Solve A Problem Like Meshawn?

Manhattan Institute scholar Heather MacDonald has a big new book out about race and merit (she's for merit) and the other day she darkened Megyn Kelly's door. In the interview MacDonald walked right up to foyer of the truth and then did an about face and walked just as quickly back. She went further than most conservatives are willing to do, which is to her credit, but not nearly far enough, which is to her shame. And the time is getting late for these foolish games.

Her headline point is that in today's society straight White men are at the bottom of the heap, and that it's high time that Whites stop apologizing for being White. And that we need to stop being suckers for black sob stories, gripes, and grievances, get back to law and order, get back standardized tests, and merit as the sole criterion, and throw overboard the whole boondoggle and racket that is diversity equity, and inclusion. She says that we are doing nothing less than committing civilizational suicide in the name of phony charges of racism.

She then hits the blacks pretty hard, harder than most establishment figures are willing to do. Of course she throws out the preamble that "you can't talk about this" but she says that the vast disparities in outcome have nothing to do with racism but are the result of a vast academic skills gap. She says that it's time for the blacks to buck up and face the music. And it's time for Whites to stop getting drawn in to blacks bellyaching and instead hold them to account.

Otherwise we're fucked.

So far so good. But it's here that she veers off the beam and backtracks along the beaten path. She chalks up the famous disparities in outcomes between the races to cultural and behavioral factors, and dysfunction in general in the black community, ie, crime, poor study habits, single mothers. This is good as far as it goes but it does not go nearly far enough. It implies that with enough vigilance and hard work and buckling down and bucking up on the part of blacks that the outcomes between the races would or at least could be equal. That is what is known in the literature as a crock of shit.

"The culture in those black communities has to change, Mac Donald said. There’s a very terrible, destructive, self-destructive ideology in black communities that says that academic effort is acting white. So, if you are a black student who is studying, who is paying attention in class, you will be demeaned as somehow betraying your race."

The outcomes will never be equal because we are not equal. Natural equality is a lie. You can't get blood from a turnip.

And culture is downstream from race.

Now that is something you "really can't talk about."

The MacDonald really disgraces herself. She says that there is one aspect of the 1619 project that she agrees with.

"When asked about claims by race activists that these steps are necessary because of the injustice of the past and slavery in America, MacDonald says she’s done her homework and is absolutely heartbroken and appalled by how ugly America’s past was."

We've done our homework as well. And here this lady gets a big fat F. MacDonald goes on to say that at its inception America was an apartheid state. That is certifiably true and is a halfway decent thing to say, much better than the typical conservative blather about how the founders were not racist. She says of course they were. And so they were.

The problem is this appalls her.

The hinge line is when she says the oppression and racial consciousness of the founders and the promulgators of segregation later was gratuitous.

But was it?

No.

It was not a matter of one day for no reason at all.

In fact there was every good reason to police, monitor, control, and keep the negros in check by every means necessary. Wherever blacsk and Whites live together the Whites have had to keep the negro savagery down with an iron hand, to keep the savages at bay, and to keep the savagery down to a dull roar. The iron hand, far from being gratuitous, was absolutely required so that all the devils might not go loose. Whenever and wherever the foot was taken off the neck of the negros what ensued was chaos, mayhem, and crime. Savagery in a word. Wherever negros are free and equal they explode into a frenzy or murder, rape, burning, and looting. Check the record.

Is this an inevitable law? Yes it is. Negros, far from being part of one race the human race, are a stunted throwback, an anachronism of troglodytic proportions. They were one of nature's cul-de-sacs which through the misguided humanism and philanthropy of the White race managed to remain extant. As such they are a museum piece but one that is roaming free in all too living color. Whenever and wherever they are emancipated they become a problem, become violent, unmanageable, and dependent. So how do you solve a problem like Meshawn? Not with heartbreak about a fictional evil past, not with being appalled by a made up gratuitous oppression. No the way you solve a problem like Meshawn is the way they solved it in the past before the pallid pussyfooters pushed an erroneous morality. That is with as much force as you have at your disposal and a virulent vigilance. Otherwise we're fucked.
