A school lunch vendor has apologized to a middle school in New York after it changed its menu to serve chicken, waffles, and watermelon to commemorate the start of Black History Month.

The Washington Post reports that food vendor Aramark outraged parents at the Nyack Middle School when it altered its original February 1st menu offerings of cheesesteaks, broccoli and fruit to serve foods that have stereotypical associations with Black Americans.

Nyack Middle School Principal David Johnson called the vendor's choice of foods "inexcusably insensitive," which prompted an official apology from Aramark.

"The situation at that middle school was our mistake and never should have happened,” an Aramark spokeswoman said in a statement. “[Watermelon] stands in direct contrast to who we are as a company and our longstanding commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion."

While the racially insensitive meal "never should have happened," it is also not the first time that Aramark has served up chicken, waffles, and watermelon on Martin Luther King Day in 2011 at the University of California, Irvine, according to NBC News.

The vendor also served students watermelon-flavored water on a 2018 Black History Month menu at New York University that also included barbecue ribs and collard greens.

I’m blacker than I thought, at least on the inside, because those are my favorite foods. Of course, I’d take a porterhouse steak, white chocolate truffles and French pastries if I had a choice between the “black “ foods.
I went into Target to buy a storage bin and there were all these huge annoying black history month signs everywhere.
I only remembered noticing one black shopper, a black man with his mestizo wife and their mutts.

This reminds me of a recent article published about a kid at a Middle School in California who brought cotton balls for “ Black History Month”.

That’s how I see it, regarding whatever the enemy labels it. I feel like I’m taking the word back and having control over it.
There are also people here and on storm front who try to tell me not to identify as a Nazi, because that’s the enemy’s slur, and to use National Socialist instead. However, GLR didn’t see it that way, he called the current New Order the American Nazi Party. He used the word as he saw fit. Of course, he also identified as a White Christian, and we’re more about Cosmotheism.

I remember when the press were harping about Donald Trump being a “White Nationalist “ when he ran for office the first time, and they said it in a contemptuous tone, as if it was a bad thing. Well, obviously he was neither White nor a nationalist, but rather an orange zionist. But I thought at the time, hey, I’m White, and I’m a nationalist ( certainly NOT a globalist!), and I’m damned proud to be both!

Speaking of slurs, the pickanninnies sometimes call us crackers, Whitey, and some time ago honkey, but those don’t offend me in the slightest, even if it’s meant that way. But if I try to call them a nigger to their faces, I never hear the end of it. If a Jew messes with me, and I say kike, they bristle a bit, but not as badly as if I was to deny the Holocaust to them, not that I’ve ever tried that so far and try not to deal with those arrogant entitled parasites. It seems like nigger is a more explosive word than kike, chink, gook, fag, dyke, etc.
Slut is the one that gets to me though, but the good thing about aging is that I haven’t had it hurled my way in decades, and that was usually by jealous young women and teen girls, when I was their age.
