Back in the 1970s, NASA’s Mariner and Viking Missions were sent out to explore
other planets in our Solar System. All three of them (there were two Viking
missions) captured images of Mars’ moon Phobos during their travels. They were
our first images of the tiny, potato-shaped moon, and the images held a mystery:
strange linear grooves on the moon’s surface. There’s been a debate about what
caused these grooves.....

Yeah,
when (after living in the mountains of WV) I mention to people about looking up at night and there are innumerable thousands upon thousands of stars out there (that aren't visible in urban/suburban locations) that are most likely stars with their own solar systems with possible intelligent life I get guffaws like, "Yeah, you've fried your brain haven't you?" type responses.
So they worship "the big man in the sky" and somehow I'm frigged up, go figure?
So where's the difference between the "heaven" Christians and the "72 virgins" Muslims?
Scratch my head confused?

A little off-topic for Science & Technology, but since you brought up the Rolling Stones I'll interject a race-mixing angle.PhuBai68 wrote:Here I "thought" you were talking about the Rolling Stones •••

I caught the Stones' live concert in Raleigh, NC, in 1965 while I was still in high school. Didn't know any better then how corrupting an influence of my generation they would become. No more silly love songs from these radical rockers.

I hear you Will.
With all the black/white hostility happening in late 60's through early 70's in the military (I might come back with actual experiences in country) at that time period I can remember on a flight (back to US or R&R - I forget) a black hitting on a (beautiful) white stewardess with the typical black BS, "Hey baby, you need some color in your life, I'm here for that."
Sad so many white women fell for that "let me in your pants or you're a racist" BS.

Re: Rolling Stones
During my tours in the war zone I enjoyed a couple of week-long R&R (Rest and Relaxation) vacations in Australia. I remember on one of the flights over on some jumbo jet that there were more than 300 soldiers, sailors and Marines, and not a single Negro GI on board. They knew better than to go to where they were not welcome at all. Back in Vietnam, even the Vietnamese prostitutes knew if they had sex with Negro Americans they would be shunned by everyone, even other prostitutes.PhuBai68 wrote:I hear you Will.
