Hamas is claiming on 4 February 2024:
15 Zionist soldiers killed, 43 military vehicles destroyed

Excellent video showing Hezbollah rocket barrage and Israel's Iron Dome shooting them down. Thanks, John.

For the second consecutive day, Hezbollah struck Northern Israel with a massive rocket barrage. Times of Israel reported that more than 30 rockets were fired, but most of them were either downed or fell in open areas. No casualty was reported so far. In a statement, Hezbollah claimed to have hit an Israeli military base, but there was no confirmation from the IDF...

Imagine the destruction had the U.S. not aided Israel with this and other defense systems.
From WikiJews:

From 2011 to 2021, the US contributed a total of US$1.6 billion to the Iron Dome defense system,[11] with another US$1 billion approved by the US Congress in 2022.[12]

Funding for the production and deployment of these additional Iron Dome batteries and interceptor missiles was approved by the United States Congress, after being requested by President Barack Obama in 2010.[33] In May 2010, the White House announced that Obama would seek $205 million from Congress in his 2011 budget, to spur the production and deployment of additional Iron Dome batteries. White House spokesman Tommy Vietor stated, "The president recognizes the threat missiles and rockets fired by Hamas and Hezbollah pose to Israelis, and has therefore decided to seek funding from Congress to support the production of Israel's short range rocket defense system called Iron Dome." This would be the first direct U.S. investment in the project.[33] Such financial assistance could expedite the completion of the defensive system, which has long been delayed by budgetary shortfalls.[34] A few days later, on 20 May 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the funding in a 410–4 vote.[35] The bill, the United States–Israel Missile Defense Cooperation and Support Act (H.R. 5327), was sponsored by Representative Glenn C. Nye of Virginia.[36] This money was expected to be included in the 2011 budget. Once the money was received in 2011, it still took a further 18 months before the additional batteries were delivered to the air force.[37]...Senate Report 113-211 from the U.S. Government Publishing Office, which accompanied text H.R. 4870,[48] recommended an increase in funding for the program for FY2015. The report calculates "U.S. investment in Iron Dome production since fiscal year 2011" to be over $1 billion.[49]

Until the 2021 war in Gaza, the US had contributed a total of US$1.6 billion to the Iron Dome defense system.[11] After the end of the 2021 conflict, Israel asked the US for another US$1 billion for replenishing the Iron Dome batteries, which was approved by the US Congress in 2022.[12]

Plans for co-production with the United States
With the United States on track to greatly increase funding for Iron Dome, there have been calls for technology transfer and co-production of Iron Dome in the United States. Just as the US and Israel share co-production of the Arrow 3 missile system, with Boeing manufacturing 40–50 percent of the production content, there has been support in the U.S. Congress, media and think tanks in favor of co-production.[50] The U.S. House of Representatives included report language in its FY-2013 Defense Authorization Act supporting Iron Dome with $680 million but also instructing that the Director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, Lt. Gen. Patrick O'Reilly, "should explore any opportunity to enter into co-production of the Iron Dome system with Israel, in light of the significant U.S. investment in this system."[51] There were media reports that the Pentagon was requesting similar language in the Senate Defense Authorization Act as well as the respective House and Senate defense appropriations bills for 2013.[31] Adding Iron Dome to the list of high-tech military programs built jointly by both nations would help further strengthen ties between Israel and the United States.[52]...

Much more about U.S. funding at the WikiJew site.

So, many more billions from Uncle Sap since 2013 to go with the billions already expended from the U.S. previously to protect that "shitty little nation" from her neighbors.

American taxpayers confront Nancy Pelosi about her vote on aid to Jews in occupied Palestine:

It appears the war soaking up billions in tax dollars to benefit Jews and their forever wars has become quite unpopular.

You're very welcome.

I think it's increasingly likely that we'll see a full-blown war between Israel and Lebanon soon.

I saw in the news that Iran's foreign minister visited Beirut and had given comments about Iran supporting Hezbollah.

This is one story about his visit:

Your prediction is probably right, John, except that the full blown war will necessarily involve U.S. troops on the side of Israel. Americans have short memories of how it worked out for American combatants stationed in Lebanon 40 years ago:

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-his ... s-blown-up

A suicide bomber drives a truck packed with explosives into the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241 U.S. military personnel. That same morning, 58 French soldiers were killed in their barracks two miles away in a separate suicide terrorist attack. The U.S. Marines were part of a multinational force sent to Lebanon in August 1982 to oversee the Palestinian withdrawal from Lebanon. From its inception, the mission was plagued with problems–and a mounting body count.

In 1975, a bloody civil war erupted in Lebanon, with Palestinian and leftist Muslim guerrillas battling militias of the Christian Phalange Party, the Maronite Christian community, and other groups. During the next few years, Syrian, Israeli, and United Nations interventions failed to resolve the factional fighting, and on August 20, 1982, a multinational force including 800 U.S. Marines was ordered to Beirut to help coordinate the Palestinian withdrawal.

The Marines left Lebanese territory on September 10 but returned in strengthened numbers on September 29, following the massacre of Palestinian refugees by a Christian militia. The next day, the first U.S. Marine to die during the mission was killed while defusing a bomb. Other Marines fell prey to snipers. On April 18, 1983, a suicide bomber driving a van devastated the U.S. embassy in Beirut, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans. Then, on October 23, a Lebanese terrorist plowed his bomb-laden truck through three guard posts, a barbed-wire fence, and into the lobby of the Marines Corps headquarters in Beirut, where he detonated a massive bomb, killing 241 marine, navy, and army personnel. The bomb, which was made of a sophisticated explosive enhanced by gas, had an explosive power equivalent to 18,000 pounds of dynamite. The identities of the embassy and barracks bombers were not determined, but they were suspected to be Shiite terrorists associated with Iran...
It was reported by a Marine survivor that as the suicidal Lebanese driver drove his bomb-laden truck past guards into the Marine Corps headquarters he had a smile on his face from ear to ear. An outstanding ETEF (Effective Toll Enemy Factor) 1:241.

I sincerely hope I will be wrong. The Jews did a great deal of damage to Lebanon when they invaded the last time.

I actually visited Beirut back in January of 2018. I was only there for about 10 days though. It's actually a very interesting city. There's a lot of history there and there's a lot of old buildings. The older buildings had a unique architecture to them.

I saw a lot of Europeans there, but to be honest a number of them looked Jewish to me. I suspected that the Jewish looking ones were there spying for Israel. I did my best to avoid the Jewish looking ones when I saw them in restaurants and other places there.

They have a rule in Lebanon that a person can't get into the country with an Israeli passport, but I'm sure that there are Israeli Jews which get passports from European countries and then go to Lebanon for the purpose of causing problems there.

I saw this story a few days ago:

DC Guard F-16s deploy to Middle East as airstrikes continue

"...F-16 Fighting Falcon jets from the D.C. Air National Guard’s 113th Wing have joined American forces in the Middle East, as the U.S. military strikes back against Iranian-linked military infrastructure in retaliation for a recent drone attack that killed three soldiers and wounded dozens of other troops..."

4 killed as Israel launches 'extensive wave of attacks' on southern Lebanon

"...The Israeli military has launched new airstrikes on Lebanon as tensions remain high along Lebanon’s southern border where the Hezbollah resistance movement and Israeli forces keep exchanging fire on a daily basis.

Israeli fighter jets “began an extensive wave of attacks in Lebanese territory” on Wednesday afternoon, the Israeli military confirmed in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

Initial reports of strikes emerged from several areas across the southern Nabatiyeh province..."
