MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat said Wednesday that Iran has become a "legitimate target" for Israel's missile strikes for supporting armed movements opposing Israel.
"Iran is a legitimate target for Israel ... The head of the snake is Tehran. My recommendation is to adopt the strategy that [US] President [John F.] Kennedy used in the Cuban missile crisis. What he basically said then was a missile from Cuba will be answered with a missile to Moscow ... And we should very very clearly make sure the Iranians understand that they will not get away with using proxies against Israel," Barkat said in an interview with The Telegraph.
Barkat told the newspaper that Israel could afford to keep fighting and open up a new front with Lebanon despite military spending of over $250 million a day. He also said that the war in Gaza had not been fought "aggressively enough." <snip>

NYC: Pro-Palestine protesters clash with cops - with at least four arrested - at massive protest outside AIPAC Headquarters

"...Pro-Palestine protesters appeared to clash with police outside The American Israel Public Affairs Committee headquarters in Manhattan on Friday afternoon.

In videos posted to social media a woman wearing a keffiyeh scarf was seen scuffling with NYPD officers.

Several protesters were also seen being arrested by officers on the street.

'You're funding genocide' shouted one woman as she was restrained by police.   

Protesters can be heard demanding a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict, and chanting 'Free Palestine' and 'shame on you.'..."

US troops in Iraq 'on standby' to support ground involvement in Israel's Gaza war: US media

"...US military personnel have been put on standby in Iraq to support a possible ground involvement in the Israeli war on the besieged Gaza Strip, The Intercept found.

According to a January US Air Force personnel memo obtained by The Intercept, American troops have been ordered to be on standby to be forward deployed in case of US military ground involvement in the Gaza war.

The memo did not indicate that such an involvement is forthcoming; however, it is the latest intimation of the Pentagon's preparations to support Israel's genocidal war in the wake of Palestinian resistance movement Hamas's October 7 operation into the occupied territories, the report run on Tuesday said..."

US-UK aggression targets Sanaa, a number of governorates: Yemen

"...Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported on a recent American-British aggression targeting the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and multiple governorates. This occurred concurrently with heightened aircraft activity in the airspace.

As per our correspondent, the American and British airstrikes focused on the regions of Attan, al-Nahdin, and al-Hafa within the capital, Sanaa.

Additionally, he reported that aircraft involved in the US-British aggression conducted over 11 airstrikes on the districts of Maqbanah and Haifan situated in the western and southern outskirts of Taiz Governorate, in the southwest of Yemen..."
