I agree.
However, I have also heard of many communities that fall apart because many of the people don't take care of their own inner issues either as well as many not doing the outer work while a small number do the majority of the work.
So IMO, have your own space, approximately 2 acres give or take, and live close to / on the fringe of town / center to gather for community events and the like.
