Noting that the Obama administration will “open the door to as many as 100,000 Haitians, who will now move into the United States without a visa,” The Washington Times warned Monday of a new dimension in that fundamental transformation of America President Barack Obama promised supporters. The revelation was in addition to news that a solicitation from the government seeks a printer for up to 34 million green cards.
Gun rights advocates have expressed concerns about plans for amnesty and citizenship after Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson told the United Conference of Mayors in January that, in his opinion, “the approximately 11 million people who are in the country illegally have ‘earned the right to be citizens.’” Adding to concerns is data compiled by the Pew Research Center, which shows overwhelming preference among “unauthorized immigrants” for the Democrat party, which includes strong “gun control” provisions in its national platform.
The thought strikes, especially in light of letting in foreign nationals from places where all kinds of nasty bugs run rampant in the population, that for those who donate blood, a disqualifier on the required questionnaire is if they've been to certain countries. By bringing people from those countries here, especially in large numbers that are then dispersed throughout the land, are conditions not being created that can mirror many of those in their homelands?
Will that have any impact on the safety of the domestic blood supply? Are there any communicable diseases which unscreened foreign nationals, including illegal border-crossers, are bringing in that could require additional screening for domestic donors? Ebola? Enteroviruses? Others? Have plans been established and controls set in place to deal with this? At what cost?
Per current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirements, "Under the authority of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and the Public Health Service Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services promulgates regulations outlining the requirements for the medical examination of aliens seeking admission into the United States."
Why does the government require this if it is not necessary? Is not protecting the lives, freedom and property of Americans its prime directive under the Constitution, and the reason the branches are ceded certain defined powers in the first place?
What will the cost to taxpayers be to comprehensively provide such screening? Will it be done for all being brought in by the administration, and those it turns a blind eye to? If not, why not? Could Congress stall Obama's plans to bypass normal immigration channels by defunding them? And why are there no plans to identify, and then screen those who have intentionally bypassed immigration authorities?
Anti-gunners have gone so far as to blame the NRA for endangering Americans by opposing confirmation of anti-gun Vivek Murthy as Surgeon General. They are also the same faction that demand the CDC take the lead on treating guns as a public health issue. Their silence here is further indication that true goals are often masked behind high-sounding rhetoric.
Tangentially related, remember the effort to allow guns in National Parks as long as state rules were followed, and subversive "progressive" U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly ruled she wouldn't allow it because no environmental impact study had been performed?
Has the administration done impact studies in either case? Might an injunction halting Obama's plans, based on both or either potentiality, be something opponents could use to slow things down until after the elections and the seating of a new majority?
