The search for the Grail
The field is forever
In 1974 a man with the suitably mysterious name of Ravenscroft wrote a book called The Spear Of Density in which he detailed Adolf Hitler’s first mystical experience. The future Fuehrer was fifteen years old and had just heard Rienzi for the first time; so hypnotized and mesmerized was he by the music that beside himself, half in fear and half in joy, he want up on a nearby hill to be alone with his swelling thoughts. As reported by a friend when he came back down he began to utter torrents of strange words and, what is more, he did so in a voice that was not his own. His friend said that in tones that seemed almost automatic and mechanical, and seemed to come from some place other than his friend, the young Hitler stated that he had been engulfed in an oceanic mind of consciousness and had been given a plan and a mandate to rule the earth.
This was Hitler’s first experience of altered states of awareness and expanded consciousness but it was not to be his last. The book also limns Hitler’s second such encounter with the world mind, when he was looking at the so called Spear Of Destiny in a museum in Austria around 1911. Upon looking at it Hitler later reported feeling massive waves of psychic energy coming from the spear and that there was a powerful aura which he detected surrounding it, and he was flooded with images of his heroes who had once possessed the sword: Martel, Barbarossa, Charlemagne, Frederick; it was as if in looking at their former possession his young soul was being possessed by them, and he was becoming them, and where they ended and he began was only conjecture, and his mandate became clearer and was confirmed.
This fracturing of one’s identity and merging with or being suffused with that of other spirits is seen today by psychiatrists as being a classic example of a psychotic break; but it was nothing of the sort. Rather it was Hitler entering into the middle of what Emerson called The Oversoul, or spiritus mundi; Savitri Devi said that Hitler was the incarnation and avatar of Vishnu but these are just examples of human language’s inability to encapsulate reality for they are just different and inadequate ways of saying the same thing. What had happened to Hitler is that he had become the chosen vessel of the god, and he had become at one with the energy emanating from the spear (spear it, spirit). That is in his own proper person he had become the spear of destiny, with the power to dispose of world fate as he saw fit.
Hitler was confused that such occult powers were being transferred to him by an object associated with Christ, whom he had rejected; but he quickly realized that the function of the spear had been to pierce Christ, that is to attack him; he soon became obsessed with the myth of the Grail and was in raptures at Wagner’s working of this myth in Parsifal. But something seemed wrong here as well as this opera had at its heart a Christian message; he soon saw that his hero, for all of his unearthly power and creativity, had failed in this respect; and it had been just this issue of the Christian Parsifal that had occasioned the falling out between Wagner and Nietzsche; and that the latter had been correct in this dispute, that there was nothing German in this drama at least as far as the story went:
Is this German?
This incense smelling
This lurid preaching?
This sugar sweetish
Bim-Bam pealing?
Ths nunnish ogling
This ave levening?
This faslesly ecstatic
Heaven?
Is this German?
The conclusion was that it was not. And so Hitler, having conceptually sorted out what was happening to him, was able to enter into his vocation as the bringer of fate. He was possessed of the mind of the spear and his world shaking actions revealed their presence on earth. But as Devi averred he was not the final avatar and he was a man against, not with Time. But his tragic death was an apotheosis, he remains alive, the Living Hitler, and the spear is still always available like a cudgel or a total mind to be picked up by one able to understand and grasp it; and who will then dispense fate freely, finally.

Notes:
In 1970 just after his supposed meeting with the aliens John Lennon told all who would listen that Hitler had been correct after all: you have to control the people. In 1976 Lennon read The Spear Of Destiny and for several months became obsessed with it. He became convinced that the spear was in Spain and he tried to convince his tarot reader and numerologist to travel to Spain with him so he could take possession of it and so rule the world. Due to his congenital laziness he never ended up going but two years later he and Yoko became positive that through the process of mind control Lennon could begin to rule the universe; Lennon began to say that he was an empty temple though which spirits passed; and given that John was so fluent in receiving psychic energy and feeding back this consciousness to the masses they came to believe that this was entirely possible. To their credit both John and Yoko also realized that such cosmic dealing would require all of John’s time and they were realistic enough to know that John was an inherently lazy man and he did not have the kind of work ethic that such world shattering endeavors required; so the settled on using his soul power to pick solid cow stocks and gold futures.
