1888: Nikola Tesla delivers a lecture describing his alternating current inventions which will, for the first time in human history, allow efficient generation and use of electric power over long distances. He showed his character when he once tore up a contract with Westinghouse that was worth billions to him in order to save the company. In later years, Tesla would support eugenics, stating "Certainly no one who is not a desirable parent should be permitted to produce progeny." He also famously advised, "Never trust a Jew."
