TODAY IN HISTORY
1943: During World War 2, the discovery of the mass graves of some 23,000 Polish prisoners -- including army officers, writers, intellectuals, and other leading citizens -- killed by Soviet forces in 1940 in the Katyń Forest Massacre is announced by National Socialist Germany. The Allies blame Germany for the massacre and maintain Germany's guilt until 1990 (when the new Russian government publicly reveals the truth), even though they know all along that the Jewish-dominated Soviet NKVD was really responsible.
