TODAY IN HISTORY
1935: In Minneapolis, Minnesota, investigative journalist Walter Liggett is machine-gunned to death in front of his wife in an alley behind his home by Jewish organized crime boss (and Meyer Lansky associate) Isadore Blumenfield. Liggett had been publishing exposés of Blumenfield's control and corruption of Minnesota politics, especially of the Farmer-Labor Party which Liggett and Charles Lindbergh, Sr. had helped to found two decades earlier. The Jewish gang attempted to frame Liggett on sex crime charges when bribes didn't work, then threatened him with death if he didn't stop publishing his articles. The corrupt courts failed to convict Blumenfield, despite decisive evidence showing that he was Liggett's murderer.
