TODAY IN HISTORY
1892: Francisco Franco, nationalist leader of Spain for nearly four decades beginning with his 1939 victory over an alliance of Marxists and "Western" capital, is born in Ferrol, Spain. He would say to a journalist in 1938: "Wherever I am there will be no communism."
