1734: American explorer Daniel Boone is born in Berks County, near Reading, Pennsylvania, the sixth of eleven children. He would become most famous for creating the Wilderness Road through the Appalachian mountains, and for his settlement and exploration of Kentucky. Hundreds of thousands of settlers followed his route into these lands during the 18th century. He would also marry and become a father of ten White children.
