TODAY IN HISTORY
1839: Charles Sanders Peirce, American mathematician, logician, and philosopher is born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In the 1880s, Peirce was the first man to realize that logical operations could be performed by simple electric circuits, presaging the development of the electronic computer.
