TODAY IN HISTORY
2002: A federal grand jury in Houston, Texas indicts former Enron chief financial officer Andrew Fastow, a Jew, on 78 counts of wire fraud, money laundering, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice related to the collapse of his ex-employer and the disappearance of more than $100 million, at least half of which ended up in Fastow’s pockets. For one of the largest and notorious frauds in the industry, in which thousands lost their life savings, Fastow would serve only five years. He now enjoys a lucrative career lecturing on “business ethics.”
