TODAY IN HISTORY
1872: Physicist and inventor George Washington Pierce is born in Webberville, Texas. He would go on to be a pioneer in telecommunications electronics, in 1920 inventing the Pierce crystal oscillator which bears his name and which was fundamental in the development of radio, television, and computers.
