681: Declaring them "a plague on the kingdom," King Erwig of the Visigoths in Hispania calls for the total removal of Jews from the nation. There is a fatal flaw in the decree, however: If a Jew has himself sprinkled with "holy water" and says he believes in the Jewish offshoot religion of Christianity, he can remain.

If only the Spanish knew that they would subvert there Churches into something that is not, however it was great for them to expel them of course.
