A shame they were too few and too late to re-establish air superiority over Europe. Besides that, the attrition of pilots and the destruction of petroleum-oil-lubricants refining and transporting abilities hurt the war effort tremendously by May 1944.

I remember building this model as a boy, it was one of my favorite models...thank you Jim for that bit of history.
