614: Chlothar II, King of the Franks, promulgates the Edict of Paris (Edictum Chlotacharii), in many ways a Frankish version of the Magna Carta, that defends the rights of Frankish nobles — and grants their wish that Jews be excluded from all high office, or indeed any civil employment whatsoever, in the Frankish Kingdom.
