1972: In Laurel, Maryland, Arthur Bremer shoots and paralyzes Alabama Governor George Wallace while he is campaigning to become President of the United States. Once a proponent of racial segregation, after being shot Wallace descends into pious, simpering multiracialism — and caters to Blacks to an extent possibly exceeding even that of Jimmy Carter.
