Johnson City. Tennessee, part of what's known as the "tri-cities" region (with nearby Kingsport and Bristol} is just 40 or so miles from Mountain City, Tennessee. Johnson City was just judged the most desirable destination to move in the US. But know, racially-speaking, Whites considering relocating to Johnson City might want to look at the northwest part of the city, not the southern parts, if they want to be among their own in a less racially diverse section, according to US Census statistica.

Anecdotal report says Johnson City

Story by Natalea Hillen

According to a recent report that appeared in Travel and Leisure magazine, Johnson City is the most desired destination to move in the United States. News Five’s Natalea Hillen spoke to Johnson City leaders and experts on Wednesday to figure out how city leaders are planning for future growth.

Northeast Tennessee Association of Realtors leaders said some of the key things drawing people to Johnson City is the low cost of living, quality of life and the scenic appeal.

For the past 5 years, Johnson City has been a hot spot for folks looking to settle down.....

The map below shows diversity in Johnson City. Areas in green are more diverse, while areas in red are much less diverse. Diversity, in this case, means a mixture of people with different race and ethnicity living close to one another. For example, all-black and all-white areas in the city would both be considered lacking diversity.

The really interesting thing about the census numbers is that prisoners are counted as residents of the facility in which they are incarcerated. The state prison located in Johnson County, NECX, houses many inmates from west Tennessee, falsely inflating the demographic data in the Negro category. NECX houses 2852 inmates according to the latest data, and the demographic breakdown of those inmates is not available, but with a total population of approximately 19,000 in the county, it isn't hard to see how a big chunk of Negroes locked up and counted in the census gives a false impression of the character of the county. 5.4% of 19,000 is 1,026 people. Given the prison population in TN is (as of 2018) 40% Negro, that would be 1140 inmates at NECX.

Likewise, the number of illegal invaders that stake their claim here during the Christmas Tree season and work seasonal jobs are not reported on the census, which gives a lower number of "hispanics" on the official data.

Good point, WM1. And good guess of the number of Black criminals being imported into practcally White Johnson County.

Who knows how many Black criminals have been imported into NECX (Northeast Correctional Compllex)? The Tennessee Department of Corrections knows, that's who.

Another factor to consider is the number of Black relatives that relocate to Johnson County to be near their imprisoned relative for visitation.

As for the influx of "Spanish speakers" -- first, they are not Spaniards from Spain; secondly they are not all seasonal migrants who process Christmas trees. They stay because they "just love it here" and work cheap.
