“White Lives Matter” banner branded as “Racist” by Mayor of Californian city

The Mayor of Union City, California, has denounced the appearance of a “White Lives Matter” banner as “racist”.

The banner, which was hung at a very busy traffic intersection, was later removed by police after they had been “tipped off” by the public.

The banner appeared on the weekend, days before MLK federal holiday.

“An act of vandalism”

The city released a statement following the reports, stating that the appearance of this banner was a “despicable act of vandalism that has occurred on the heels of an insurrection”, before going on to claim that this banner is “evidence of how divisiveness at the national level can appear” in the community of Union City, a town that holds only 75,000 people.

Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci appeared in a video with Human Resources Commission Chairman Kashmir Singh Shahi to personally denounce and condemn those who set up the banner.

The mayor explained how they removed the banner the moment they found out about it.

On the other hand, the Human Resources chair stated that they are disappointed with the actions of individuals who put up the banner and that their actions do not reflect the real state of the community in which they live.

What is the White Lives Matter movement?

The term “White Lives Matter” began to appear in counter-protests against the “Black Lives Matter” movement, which was sparked into life once again in 2020 after the death of George Floyd, who was killed by police.

The term was first coined in 2015 after the Black Lives Matter movement started to gain momentum.



The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) describes the organization, on their website, as a “racist response to the Black Lives Matter movement”, citing that white supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and the Aryan Renaissance Society frequently use this term in their rhetoric.

The Southern Poverty Law Centre describes the movement as a “neo-Nazi group that is encouraging other white supremacist groups to adopt their slogans and tactics.”

The SPLC also uses the group’s own rhetoric against them to support their claims, citing quotes from various leaders on their website that contain vulgar content.

Who do the stats support?

Both groups, WLM and BLM, claim they were created to promote issues that their race faces on a daily basis, especially being victims of police actions.

The rhetoric of Black Lives Matter states that more black people fall victim to the hands of police brutality in the US than white people do, citing the reason for this as racist, however, the stats do not support this claim.

In data collected between 2017-2020 by Statista, more white people year on year has been shot by police compared to any other race.

In 2017, 457 white people were shot by US police, compared to just 223 black people.

In 2018, 399 white people were shot compared to 209 black people.

In 2019, 370 white people were shot compared to 235 black people.

Then, in 2020, the year that Black Lives Matter regained its momentum to pursue the end of racial injustice; 432 white people were shot by police compared to 226 black people.

What, Whites can't be victims like everyone else?

This is akin to the "it's ok to be White" activity that was being pushed awhile back to expose the hypocrites. That this effort isn't followed up with a deeper message and action plan makes it look weak. Nice try guys, but why not step it up a bit and see what the National Alliance does?

You are absolutely correct. I have never questioned you.

Typically activists are only really interested in activism. Jim is right - without followup, it's just hollow cheerleading.

City Orders 'Racist' White Lives Matter Banner Torn Down: 'Despicable Act of Vandalism'

On a busy public boulevard in Oakland, California, activists wrote this past June in sprawling pastel-colored letters: “All Black Trans Queer Nonbinary Women’s Disabled Imprisoned Lives Matter.”

In nearby San Francisco, the enormous bright yellow words “Black Lives Matter” were emblazoned on a three-block stretch on another busy public way. A third public street, this time in Martinez, California, was painted over with a similarly gigantic bright “Black Lives Matter” statement.

But when a modest “White Lives Matter” banner showed up last week about an hour’s drive from Martinez at the corner of a public way in Union City, it was deemed illegal because it was on public property and ordered removed, KGO-TV reported.

Local officials barely fell short of spitting on the sign, calling it a “despicable act of vandalism” and “racist.”

“This morning a ‘White Lives Matter’ banner was removed from the corner of Smith Street and Dyer Street. It was illegally placed on public property,” the city said in a statement.

“The City is disgusted by this despicable act of vandalism that has occurred on the heels of the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol last week and on the weekend of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday that celebrates the life and achievements of this important civil rights leader.”

“A police report has been filed. The City Council and the Human Relations Commission, along with the UCPD and City staff, remain on heightened alert to make sure racist incidences like this do not happen again in our community.”

It’s unclear who put the banner up or what their motivations were, but what we do know for sure is that no one was charged with or accused of a “hate crime” for taking it down.

However, when a couple showed up and started painting over the Black Lives Matter mural in Martinez, they were charged with a “hate crime.”

And this summer, the conservative group Judicial Watch was reportedly sent packing when it wanted to paint its motto, “Because No One is Above the Law,” on a street in Washington, D.C., which at the time was home to a massive “Black Lives Matter” mural that activists later added the phrase “Defund the Police” to.

Those darn double standards are kind of hard to miss. And it’s likely you haven’t missed them at all. Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas, Milwaukee and even Montpelier, Vermont, all proudly bore bright, behemoth Black Lives Matters proclamations, largely on public-owned, taxpayer-funded streets.

In fact, there are few major cities without a public street that features a Black Lives Matter mural.

Now to be fair, in the case of the “White Lives Matter” sign, there was no permit or permission given to post this banner on public property. (Though that doesn’t mean the party or parties responsible were motivated by any sort of racism, and in fact, there’s nothing inherently racist about the phrase “White Lives Matter” in the first place.)

That being said, all the city had to do was take it down and throw it in the dumpster. Instead, we get a virtue-signaling statement from the city calling it “racist”, “despicable” and “vandalism.”

Imagine if it was a “Black Lives Matter” sign that went up with no permit. No doubt the city’s reaction would be much, much different.

But no, it was a “White Lives Matter” sign. And it revealed plenty about the double standards in American society today.
