I’ve given the concept of funneling via “soft” approach publications as you describe a lot of thought. After all, I came to the Alliance via a repeatable approach from Libertarianism to Hoppe to a sort of AltRight and eventually after actually reading Mein Kampf (instead of trusting what others told me it was about) and becoming a National Socialist. It wasn’t long after that I was pointed to the National Vanguard and after a couple of years of following that publication I finally joined the Alliance.
Along the way I was instructed by a variety of publications including The Daily Stormer, Occidental Observer, Radical Capitalist, and AmRen. My first exposure to the idea of political alignment according to natural ethics came from Reason Magazine online. One thing that struck me along the way is that whenever I shared what I was finding on social media, I was always countered by arguments attacking the source–not the arguments! This struck me as entirely illogical and only strengthened my resolve to give attention to “bad” publications.
That last attribute may be important to resisting the social pressures new recruits fear facing, but that’s another story.
I do want to offer a counter to relying on the utility of “softer” sources funneling new folk our way: you also risk creating the gate keeping effect. Folk may find themselves with a “this is far enough down the rabbit hole” mindset and since such publications and their attendant communities don’t explicitly call out the enemy they are vulnerable to infiltration –such as by Ron Unz types– who will find it in their own best interests to make sure the rabbit hole stops there for most of their readers.
Still, I am not necessarily naysaying such an idea. I really am still struggling with how or even if to apply my own experience as a model for recruiting or at least teaching other Aryans. I really have no idea and welcome such discussions.
I can say that what helped me flip my family members was not directing them to “soft” publications but rather directing them to things like the editorial sections of Haaretz, the Forward or the JTA. I had heard it said that “the Nazi’s best propaganda is the Jews in their own words” and applied it. Then it was as simple as linking NV articles: “okay, now do you see why we “Nazi” “haters” say this?”
