Night Ghost, White Knight

Heinz Wolfgang Schnaufer was a young ace
of the German Luftwaffe, fighting for Nation and Race.
The British RAF nicknamed him "Night Ghost" out of fear
and respect, how out of nowhere he eerily appeared

to shoot down 126 spooked Lancasters in his Messerschmitt,
the heavy bombers exploding after their fuel tanks were hit.
Schnaufer tracked then attacked like an arrow from below
and in his shadow left a smoking target and fiery glow.

Major Erich Hartmann, "Bubi" ex animo,
was the most successful fighter pilot ever known:
352 Soviet aircraft destroyed, over 1,400 missions flown,
the blond knight of Germany fought for honor not show

against ill-mannered Red enemies led by the immoral jew--
all learned lessons in chivalry from Jagdgeschwader 52.
Like a true hero Hartmann sacrificed even after the war:
wrongfully imprisoned ten long years for duty to land and lord.

Thanks, Ray. Outstanding. Even more excellent than your other fine poems.
