Reich Knights

Post by Ray W » Thu Aug 13, 2020 3:20 pm

It takes daring heroes to grave zombie communist hordes--
only the bravest bear the Oak Leaves with Diamonds and Swords:
Aryan men, truly the best of Nature's best
honored on scale with Valhalla hailing its honored guests.

Flying for the Legion Condor in Franco's Spain,
Werner Molders made Soviet Rata fall in fiery rain
shot to shrapnel by scrappy soldier and son--he died too young;
of the wearers of the special Knight's Cross he was Number One.

Hans-Ulrich Rudel flew a Stuka Ju 87, every mission red-hot
and most famous was the sinking of the Soviet battleship Marat.
At 28 from His Grace Adolf Hitler he was blessed to receive
the holiest holy--a Knight's Cross with Golden Oak Leaves.

Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer haunted British bomber planes,
the "Night Ghost" littering the ground with ghastly remains
in fearless attacks with a Bf 110, he was a shadow of a shade
and made every respectful RAF pilot royally afraid.

Twenty-four more German warriors wore this revered token
and like living Bruder their spirit will never be broken.
Loyalty and valor will defeat any lingering bolshevik swine
and elevate battle-bold folk to feast with Valhalla's divine.

Rudel is mentioned here...

...and you may be interested to know that
Rudel decided to defect to the Americans
rather than the Soviets, which would probably
meant certain death. After crash-landing his
fighter, an American GI tried to confiscate
his Oak Leaves. Rudel prevented this by
closing the canopy and locking out the would-
be thief. He was later arrested by other
Americans, but if I remember my history
right, he did retain possession of the medal.

He never 'apologized' or became 'Politically
Correct.' He moved on to Argentina where he
was highly regarded and helped the German
community there. When he died in 1982, a squadron
of West German jets gave him a fly-over, which
of course was denied by the German Occupational
Government.

Rudel is a fascinating character. If you have time, listen to this podcast from Myth of the 20th Century about him and Stuka pilots generally.

As a pilot, the profession brings one above the rest as a matter of course. As a military pilot, flying brings one into danger as a matter of duty. As a man, Hans-Ulrich Rudel rose above all others, certainly in the context of World War II and within the German Military. Flying over 2,000 missions in the Stuka dive bomber and bearing the highest decoration of any soldier, Rudel survived over 30 crashes and was able to take out over 800 enemy vehicles, hundreds of tanks and even a battleship. After the war he was the top candidate for the German Reich Party, and spent much of his time consulting with presidents of South American nations as a military adviser.
