Peaky Blinders and the Jews

Having recently finished watching the second season of the BBC's 1920s gangland drama 'Peaky Blinders', which is set in Birmingham in England. I was surprised to see that aside from the random a-historical negro priest (complete with dreadlocks) in the first series (he makes a cameo in the second as well): it has now acquired a bunch of jews to its cast of a-historical numpties as well.

This collection of the circumcised is headed by a jewish character named Alfie Solomons: who is played by the distinctly non-jewish Tom Hardy (although the Israeli actor Iddo Goldberg sympathetically played a devoted non-jewish communist revolutionary in the first). Now while Alfie Solomons was a real character and did help run a fairly notorious gang in his day: (1) the basic problem with 'Peaky Blinders' Alfie is that he is distinctly non-jewish as a character.

Aside from the fact he doesn't look the part (and anyone who has actually studied London's jewish history will know precisely what I mean by that): he is also the absolute opposite of how the real Alfie operated. Alfie was not the ultra-hard semi-literate nut-job that Hardy portrays, but rather he helped run a successful betting and protection racket based on the use of the contemporary jewish domination of the bookmaking and gambling profession (as has long been the case with jewish networks) (2) combined with a bit of feckless terrorism.

Oh and he worked for the Italian gangster Sabini after all: not as a separate player. (3)

That was the real Alfie: a bit like most jewish gangsters (per Rich Cohen's findings in 'Tough Jews') his modus operandi was less the extreme macho violence of the fictional Alfie, but rather looking to use what black and grey market networks existing and then moving in using some heavies where necessary to inspire a bit of necessary terror in the proverbial punters.

The fictional Alfie of 'Peaky Blinders' is portrayed as being macho and extremely competent with weapons (he was allegedly very violent but I can't find a decent evidential origin of this particular claim other than the usual hyped gangland 'bad boy' image he and others get awarded): (4) even boasting at one point that he tortured an Italian soldier to death for the fun of it during the war.

Given that jews were both under-represented in the British armed forces relative to their population (and were only really brought up to anywhere near their representation in the population by conscription in 1916) and even more so among those who won medals and decorations for campaign service/bravery (5) (and not only in the British armed forces but the German as well): (6) such a character would... shall we say... be unlikely at best.

The idea of the macho jew is however one that has been a constant in Zionist political culture since one of its intellectual pillars (and one that is emphasized more and more in regard to how radical you go in the broader spectrum of Zionist politics) is the notion that historically jews didn't fight back against their enemies (which is wrong, because they did but they just weren't effective at doing it) and what Zionism is trying to do is fix it that there is no 'persecution' of jews anywhere ever again.

Hence the famous 'Never Again' slogan of the Zionist right.

This often macho-ness (as a counter to the fact that exercise and the gym are considered goyische [something stupid only non-jews bother to do] in traditional jewish culture) gets emphasized by jewish writers and producers with documentaries describing the First Jewish Revolt (66 – 70 AD) as being a 'really tough struggle for the Romans' (when it wasn't particularly) and portraying jewish characters as being highly resourceful and ultra-tough fighters ('Inglorious Bastards' and 'Defiance' are obvious and recent examples of this genre that spring to mind).

Naturally enough with this sort of a a-historical quasi-Zionist series script I looked to see if there were any members of the proverbial tribe high up in the production or writing team: it just so happens that while the ostensible writer Steven Knight doesn't appear to be one of them. His boss (as she part owns the series) and executive producer Caryn Mandabach most certainly is. (7)

It is less of a surprise that we've suddenly got macho jews showing up in 'Peaky Blinders' now: isn't it?
