Awakening (short story)

PostSat Aug 27, 2016 1:56 pm

A writer who bills himself as Axe of Perun has posted an excellent piece of short fiction on Renegade Tribune.

A short quote:
Grandpa, tell me about the Awakening! Pleeeaasee!

Oh, well alright… I guess you are old enough to hear the story. Well, come over here sit down and listen up then. The world as you know it right now, your home, your street, your neighborhood, your Nation – all our Lands where our brothers and sisters live in – they were not like that before the Awakening. No, they were not like that… (pauses for a few moments)

What were they like?

… they … they were a disaster. No one felt safe anymore, no one had a sense of brotherhood, nationality… our own people were taught to hate themselves and were raised up believing that the best thing to happen to the entire World would be to simply exterminate ourselves.

[O]ur own people were taught to hate themselves and were raised up believing that the best thing to happen to the entire World would be to simply exterminate ourselves.

It's mass suicide.

Are a people who would "drink the Kool-Aid" and kill themselves worth preserving? :?: Probably not. Mother Nature is not kind to her creatures who don't fight when necessary, who don't strive to survive against competing sub-species.

However, if the people are worth preserving then they had better learn who it is that has taught them to hate themselves, and fast, so they can kill the treacherous teachers in their midst.
