Shouldn't this statement actually be "this is why we use a perfect vacuum to INSULATE--and not isolate--thermos bottles?" That is what I recall from so many years ago when studying how an automotive carburetor pulls fuel from the float bowl into the main metering wells. It is based upon a vacuum effect created in the main metering circuit consisting of a pipe that temporarily narrows, forming a venturi.
