The Confederate Kissinger

When we think of the Confederacy, the big names that automatically
come to mind are the three legends carved into the side of Georgia's
Stone Mountain: President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee
and General Stonewall Jackson. Significant figures for sure, but
in the grander power-scheme of things, these men, including President
Davis himself, were outranked by Judah P. Benjamin. The fact that
Benjamin's name is so relatively unknown is, ironically, testament
to the awesome "behind-the-scenes" power that he wielded. Unfortunately
for the South (and the North), Benjamin's influence served neither
of the Americas. His loyalties lay elsewhere - in Rothschild's London!
