Police are investigating KKK fliers tossed in driveways of a small North Texas town

Written by Wire Services

WOLFE CITY — Residents in this North Texas town found information outside their doors last weekend that alarmed them enough to contact law enforcement.

Fliers with information on the Texas Rebel Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were thrown Saturday onto more than 80 driveways in Wolfe City, a Hunt County town about 40 miles northeast of McKinney. Authorities say the fliers, which were sealed inside bags that were weighted down with rocks, appeared to have been thrown randomly.

Wolfe City Police Chief Matt Martin said his department is working alongside the Hunt County Sheriff's Office to investigate the incident.

"We're still trying to get to the bottom of this," Martin said.

He said similar incidents were rare, but he'd heard of them happening before his time as chief. Martin has served in the role for the past five years.

Sheriff Randy Meeks issued a statement and said his office will continue to work the case alongside Martin, though the deputies who initially responded to the incident determined there was no immediate threat to life or property.

Wolfe City, which is in Hunt County, is about 40 miles northeast of McKinney.

"This kind of activity is very unsettling to everyone and it was evident in the number of houses we responded to Saturday night," Meeks said. "I want to assure the public that we are working with Chief Martin and conducting a thorough investigation."

The Southern Poverty Law Center said that as of 2017, the Texas Rebel Knights of the Ku Klux Klan was based in Quinlan.

Links to a website that the group had been operating in 2017 were no longer functioning as of Wednesday.

The Hunt County Sheriff's Office asks that anyone who finds the fliers or anything similar would contact the office or the Wolfe City Police Department to file a report.

The Saturday incident was similar to one in May 2014, when fliers with information about joining the KKK were distributed on driveways along U.S. Highway 69 South, toward FM513 in the Lone Oak area.

In August 2014, an event called the Texas Freedom Rally was scheduled at the Hunt County Courthouse. Organizers say a march or speakers had been planned for the event. A website associated with the Texas Ku Klux Klan reported that the event was to be "a pro-Liberty, pro-Patriot rally," with up to 500 people expected, and claimed that the event was being organized by Texas Lone Star Patriots, Oath Keepers, Open Carry Texas, the Texas Nationalist Movement, All the Texas Militias, the Republic of Texas and the Tea Party of Texas. The event never took place.

More cops with nothing better to do than to run down those who are simply exercising their rights to free speech. Perhaps they're looking to violate someone's rights. Hopefully they're not as dishonest as so many other police agencies are and seek to cook up some phony charges to hide the fact that they're going to violate rights.

Lawrenceville United aims to combat hate in Pittsburgh neighborhood
TAWNYA PANIZZI | Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, 7:09 a.m.

Hate has no home in Lawrenceville.

That’s the message of an upcoming safety meeting hosted by community group Lawrenceville United and the FBI.

Discussions will focus on a recent spate of hate activity popping up in the former industrial town whose resurgence in recent years has propelled development and property values.

Leaders have gotten 10 reports of vandalism and other activity since summer, according to the group’s Facebook page. In one case, a Jewish business owner was targeted with hate speech directly after the Tree of Life tragedy.

Residents will have the chance to questions FBI units who work on hate crimes. They plan to discuss hate groups in western Pennsylvania and also how activity in Lawrenceville mirrors that around the country.

The meeting is 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Goodwill Workforce Development Center, 118 52nd St.

An aged care facility that is home to Holocaust survivors has been defaced with swastikas by a neo-Nazi organisation.

The extremist group, Antipodean Resistance, vandalised the front gates of Emmy Monash Aged Care in Caulfield, south-east Melbourne, with their swastika-laden logo.

The anti-Semitic design was discovered by a man as he was visiting his parents, both aged 94, on New Years Day.

Sam Seigel, was shocked at the find, and labelled it 'disturbing'.

'I saw it stuck to the front gates. I just stood there and looked - it knocked me about,' he told the Herald Sun.

'You don't expect to see those sorts of things, especially at an aged-care residence.' he said.

Mr Seigel said that many of the home's residents were Holocaust survivors and that they would be horrified to see the logo outside their home.

Chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission Dr Dvir Abramovich also condemmed the sickening attacks, brandishing them as 'cowardly and evil'.

The recent attacks come as concerns that anti-Semitism is on the rise in Australia with the commission recording the 'largest single-year increase' of attacks in 2018.

White nationalist fliers discovered in West Seattle

BY MYNORTHWEST STAFF
JANUARY 8, 2019 AT 7:24 AM

Fliers associated with a white nationalist group were found spread throughout West Seattle over the weekend.

The West Seattle Blog reports that zip-lock plastic bags were found in various neighborhoods with white rocks to weigh them down. The fliers read “Better dead than red,” and feature an arrow through a hammer and sickle symbol, and provide a link to Patriot Front, a known white nationalist group.

Similar fliers were reportedly found in Edmonds and around Tacoma at the same time.

It is not the first time in recent months that West Seattle has been targeted by white supremacist promotions. Neighbors reacted to an incident of hate shortly after a Jewish family found “JEW” painted on their garage. They further found “(expletive) JEW THIEVE” painted on the ground in an alley behind their home in Sunrise Heights.

The West Seattle Blog also reported on fliers posted in the area for Identity Evropa in March 2018 — another white supremacist organization that has been active in the region.

Patriot Front has left similar fliers elsewhere in Western Washington. It prompted pushback in Tacoma last summer after it posted fliers there, promoting a Blood and Soil website.

Blood and Soil fliers were also found in June 2018 in plastic bags filled with candy — near elementary schools — in Bellevue and Clyde Hill. The presentation was similar to what was found in West Seattle over the weekend.

For those unaware, “blood and soil” was a nationalist mantra for Nazis before and during World War II. White supremacists have since used it to promote a nation for the white race.

There has been both anecdotal and data-driven evidence that white supremacist and hate crime activity is on the rise in Washington state. More recently, white supremacists were linked to an attack at a bar in Lynnwood. Someone spammed students at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish County with wi-fi signals bearing homophobic and racist titles, including a number of swastikas.

The FBI also noted that hate crimes in Washington went up by 32 percent in 2017, the most recent data available. Per capita, Washington had the third highest reported hate crimes during this time.

Race-related hate crimes far outweighed other reported crimes in the state — 323. There were 88 crimes related to a person’s religion and 79 related to sexual orientation. There were 16 reports related to a person’s gender identity.
Another example of the "main stream" media equating free speech activity to violence, a popular pastime for presstitutes it seems.

Union Hill neighbors scrap barrage of white supremacist flyers
Christian Vosler, Kitsap Sun Published 4:31 p.m. PT Jan. 7, 2019

BREMERTON — A white supremacist group peppered the Union Hill neighborhood with flyers over the weekend, prompting a cleanup campaign Sunday.

The flyers were placed in plastic bags with rocks and thrown into the yards of dozens of homes.

It marked the most aggressive local propaganda effort yet by a group called the Patriot Front.

The flyers were emblazoned with slogans like "better dead than red" and the address of the Patriot Front's website.

It didn't take long for neighborhood residents to clean up the mess.

'All of us have got to stand together'
Anna Keller posted to social media Sunday that she found 20 of the flyers between 10th Street and Kiwanis Park. She soon filled a garbage bag with them.

"That was more than I bargained for," she said on Facebook.

Airen Lydick, a member of Kitsap Showing Up for Racial Justice (Kitsap SURJ) has been working to counter the flyers since they started surfacing weeks ago. The group is exploring strategies to "undermine white supremacy locally," he said.

"The community really showed up to say, 'We're not into this,'" Lydick said.

Bishop Larry Robertson, pastor of the Emmanuel Apostolic Church located in Union Hill, said it's a sign "the community has some work to do."

"We're on the eve of Dr. (Martin Luther) King's birthday and here we are, contending with this nonsense," he said. "As a community, we've got to stand up and show solidarity. All of us have got to stand together."

People began finding the flyers Sunday morning in an area from Callow to Warren avenues and 11th to Burwell streets.

Mayor Greg Wheeler said he was contacted Sunday morning and encouraged anyone who found a flyer to bring them to his home on Pennsylvania Avenue.

"I believe they did the right thing," Wheeler said of the neighbors who disposed of the flyers. "I am supportive of their values."

Bremerton police are monitoring the situation, Chief Jim Burchett said, but tossing flyers into yards is not a crime. Burchett recommended people throw the flyers away.

"We want people to feel safe here, so we're vigilant of any act that crosses the line into malicious harassment," Burchett said.

The Patriot Front "espouses racism, anti-Semitism and intolerance under the guise of preserving the 'ethnic and cultural origins' of their European ancestors," according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies the Patriot Front as a hate group.

The group broke off from Vanguard America, a neo-Nazi organization that participated in the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, in August 2017.

Flyers from the Patriot Front have been found in communities around the state recently. A handful were previously posted in Bremerton, including at Olympic College, but not on the scale seen last weekend.

Patriot Front flyers also were reported in Tacoma, Edmonds and West Seattle over the weekend.

Wheeler said he supported residents reporting white nationalist propaganda when they see it.

"I want to know about it right away," Wheeler said.

State Sen. Emily Randall, D-Bremerton, encouraged people to continue to call out white supremacist activity.

"We need our community members to know that we support them regardless of their race or heritage and we will ensure the community is safe for them," Randall said.

The chief cop is trying hard to find the crime in free speech! What this story doesn't report is that the local "It's Going Down" antifa thugs have been doxxing local activists and depositing collected (but ruined) flyers at the activists' homes. Targeting and harassment, where are the police now? Turning a blind eye to it, no doubt.

South Philadelphia man says racist flyer will not intimidate him

By Annie McCormick
Friday, January 11, 2019 08:26PM
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating the appearance of anti-black hate speech showing up in a section of South Philadelphia.

Forty-year-old Malik Upshur of Graduate Hospital stood with city leaders Thursday to denounce the propaganda he says came to his block at 16th and Kater streets where he lives with his grandmother.

Upshur says he received a flyer promoting the Ku Klux Klan on the windshield of his car Tuesday night.

"It's just something I never thought I'd experience. My grandmother has been living here 94 years," said Upshur.

But Upshur says this will not deter to him in continuing to call his neighborhood home.

"I'm not intimidated. We're here to stay," Upshur said.

City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson gathered leaders from the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations and the NAACP after Upshur contacted his office.

"He is the only African-American on the block and it just so happens this card winds up on his windshield. I call that more than a coincidence," said Johnson.

"I'm sorry what this young man had to go through. In the 21st century, in a city like Philadelphia, called the City of Brotherly Love," Philadelphia NAACP President Rodney Muhammad said.

Authorities are urging residents to report anything they see. Even though leaving cards or leaflets is not illegal, they are on the lookout for disturbing trends or patterns.

"We have had groups like this recruiting and intimidating people throughout the city. We see it more often in the Northeast and Roxborough, and an incident in the Northwest," said Executive Director of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations Rue Landau.

Police said Upsure filed a formal report Thursday evening and they are beginning to look through surveillance video in the area.

SPLC releases online tool that tracks rising number of hate group flyers and banners
January 11, 2019

Emboldened by President Trump’s rhetoric, white supremacist groups have increased their distribution of flyers and banners in public spaces across the country, spreading racist and antisemitic propaganda and seeking to recruit new members.

In response, the SPLC today launched an interactive, online tool https://www.splcenter.org/flyering-map that tracks where the flyers and banners are being distributed.

The tool, which will be updated periodically, features a map depicting the distribution, by state, of more than 1,000 flyers and banners placed by white supremacist groups since the beginning of 2018. It also identifies the organizations responsible.

“The increased presence of hate flyers and banners in public places around the country demonstrates that white nationalists are growing more comfortable in spreading their hateful messages,” said Heidi Beirich, director of the SPLC’s Intelligence Project. “As part of our efforts to call out and denounce hate, we are showing the public where these flyers are being distributed.”

The number of flyers with messages of hate in public places has dramatically increased in the past year. In 2017, hate groups posted flyers 200 times in non-campus, public spaces, versus 942 times in 2018.

Previously, most of the flyers documented by the SPLC had been placed on college campuses, with at least 299 such incidents in 2017, versus 292 times in 2018. Stepping away from college campuses and focusing more on public places provides the groups with greater exposure and potential for media coverage.

The two hate groups responsible for posting most of the flyers are Identity Evropa and Patriot Front.
Why isn't the SPLC listed? Haven't you mentioned wanting to destroy Whites who organize to protect their heritage? I'd say that's pretty hateful.

HATE GROUPS ALIVE AND WELL, AND ONE WILL BRING PRINCETON TO A HALT SATURDAY
DAVID MATTHAU January 10, 2019

A new study finds flyers being distributed by white supremacist groups are increasingly showing up on college campuses across the country, including New Jersey.

According to data compiled by the Southern Poverty Law Center during the first 10 months of 2018, 1,086 flyers were posted on 262 college campuses, including eight in New Jersey.

From March of 2016 to October of 2017 there were only 329 flyer “incidents.”

The number of flyers posted in New Jersey is small, but Lecia Brooks, the director of outreach at the SPLC, pointed out that “New Jersey has a long reputation of having hate groups present and there’s always been hate activity there.”

A small group of bigoted trolls with a history of using anti-Semitic and white supremacist slogans and and ideas to incite reactions in New Jersey will hold a march in Princeton on Saturday. Police aren’t sure how many people will show up for the event, but the same group held a demonstration in Princeton in November and just six of them showed up.

A much larger group of counter-protestors is expected. Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert is urging everyone to stay calm and not resort to violence.

Princeton Police Chief Nick Sutter urged counter-demonstrators to obtain a permit so that authorities will be aware of them and make efforts to protect them.

The streets around Palmer Square, the town's busy shopping district, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This includes Nassau Street between University Place and Witherspoon Street.

Sutter said protestors may carry signs that are not attached to poles or sticks. Police are not allowing weapons or water bottles made of either glass or plastic in the designated protest areas.

Brooks said hate groups are posting leaflets on campuses as a way to have a “presence” and as a recruitment technique.

“They’re getting media attention. Their names are repeated. It gives them a lot more prominence than maybe they should have.”

She said the message being spread by hate groups is the demographic shifts we’re seeing in this country “portray a dim future for young white males.”

She said what makes white male students particularly vulnerable to this is that “over the past decade or so, campuses have really moved to increase their efforts around diversity, inclusion and equity and, sadly, white male college students don’t see themselves as a part of that.”

In response, she said, a growing number of colleges are “reaching out to all segments of the college community to make sure that everyone knows the diversity and inclusion initiatives apply to everyone.”

She noted those spreading messages of hate and threat try to position themselves as conservative thought leaders.

“That message resonates with some students on campus who count themselves as conservative, then find they’re caught up in this world of hate and division.”
So the police want to protect a much larger group from a smaller group? No wonder the pro-White guys decided not to attend: they could easily see the fix (as has happened with the so-called 'authorities' in Charlottesville) was in!

Anti-Semitic fliers found in Newton

By Lucas Phillips GLOBE CORRESPONDENT JANUARY 13, 2019

Newton police are investigating after anti-Semitic fliers were found in book-swap bins around the city Sunday morning.

The fliers, which include racist caricatures and connect Jews to pedophilia, were found in four bins on Lowell Avenue, Cottage Street, Walnut Street, and Morse Road, according to Lieutenant Bruce Apotheker, a spokesman.

The fliers were linked to the Daily Stormer Book Club, he said, which the Anti-Defamation League describes as an “alt right segment of the white supremacist movement,” on its website.

“It’s a pretty vile image and description of the most classic anti-Semitic stereotypes, demonizing Jews and the Jewish religion,” said Robert Trestan, director of the league in New England. He said the fliers have become an increasingly common tactic of white supremacist groups, including in Massachusetts.

Apotheker said that the placement of the fliers appears to be random — with no specific individuals targeted — and marks the first such incident in Newton in a decade.

Police are working with the Anti-Defamation League and Newton Human Rights Commission to investigate the incident, he said in a phone interview.

“We find these flIers to be disgusting and hateful, and as a city, we stand united against this and all forms of hate,” Apotheker said.

Lucas Phillips can be reached at [email protected].
This website still allows comments, but they're heavily censored. Dissenting posts are the target, according to one poster.

Police investigating free speech again? This is a common theme across the country of late. Who appointed them to be the Thought Police?

White supremacist flyers posted outside Myrtle Beach newspaper and TV station
BY CHARLES DUNCAN

JANUARY 14, 2019 06:32 AM,

UPDATED JANUARY 14, 2019 01:26 PM

Flyers promoting the white supremacist Patriot Front group appeared on stop signs and light poles outside McClatchy Co.’s The Sun News newspaper in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, over the weekend.

The Sun News previously reported on the same flyers posted around Horry County, South Carolina, in the days before Christmas.

The flyers, with messages of “Reclaim America” and “Keep America American,” were posted around the newspaper’s building in a commercial and industrial area just outside the Myrtle Beach city limits, and one other was posted on a light pole outside the WMBF News television station building next door.

A post on the social networking site gab.com from over the weekend shows the same flyers posted in the Forestbrook neighborhood of Horry County.

The Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center identify the Patriot Front group as a white supremacist organization.

“Patriot Front espouses racism, anti-Semitism and intolerance under the guise of preserving the “ethnic and cultural origins” of their European ancestors,” the ADL writes.

“Patriot Front is an image-obsessed organization that rehabilitated the explicitly fascist agenda of Vanguard America with garish patriotism. Patriot Front focuses on theatrical rhetoric and activism that can be easily distributed as propaganda for its chapters across the country,” according to the SPLC, which tracks hate groups.

Patriot Front formed out of the violent August 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, the SPLC reports, breaking off from Vanguard America, which the SPLC identifies as a neo-Nazi group.

One of the participants in the rally, James Alex Fields, was found guilty of murder after he rammed a car into a group of counter-protestors and killed 32-year-old Heather Heyer, NBC reports.
Flyers=violence according to this article. Keep brainwashing there, Charles Duncan/Tri-City Herald! You'll make it stick with the dummies, but that's about it!
