I had to go to Montgomery the other day, so I went by the intersection where Dr. Pierce lived briefly as a child, I pulled my car over next to the curb and closed my eyes and I could, for a moment, see from the lampposts, power poles, and trees the grisly forms hang, each with an identical placard around its neck bearing the printed legend, " I worked at the SPLC."
