Is Oumuamua An Alien Object?

In 2017, we spotted Oumuamua, an interstellar object on a tumbling trajectory
that took it into our solar system and around the sun. Oumuamua was traveling
exceptionally fast — twice the speed of the Voyager 1 probe. It slingshotted
around the Sun, briefly passed within range of Earth’s telescopes, and vanished
back into space. The speculation about it started in earnest when scientists
noticed it had slingshotted around the sun faster than should have been possible.
The likeliest explanation is that, like a comet, it lost mass as it went around
the Sun, increasing its velocity. We’ve been surprised by the trajectories of
objects in space before, with no aliens involved. Sometimes our calculations
are just slightly off. But researchers studying Oumuamua courted controversy
and attracted fascinated media attention when they mentioned that Oumuamua
could instead be artificial in origin.

Using data from ESA's Gaia stellar surveyor, astronomers have identified four stars
that are possible places of origin of 'Oumuamua, an interstellar object spotted
during a brief visit to our Solar System in 2017. But where in the Milky Way did
this cosmic traveler come from?

Well worth taking the time to contemplate.... and wonder."

Meeting a piece of advanced technological equipment developed by an extraterrestrial
intelligence might resemble an imaginary encounter of ancient cave people with a
modern cell phone. At first, they would interpret it as a shiny rock, not recognizing
it as a communication device. The same thing might have happened in reaction to the
first detection of an interstellar visitor to the solar system, ‘Oumuamua,' which
showed six peculiar properties but was nevertheless interpreted as a rock by
mainstream(?) astronomers.

For reasons best understood by them, Hollywood producers seem to have a preoccupation
with extra-terrestrials having a carnal interest in captive Caucasian females...

Rama it is not. Cigar-shaped interstellar trespasser may be
fragment of wrecked planet. A reddish-colored cigar-shaped
interstellar object called 'Oumuamua' that is tumbling through
our solar system may be wreckage from a planet ripped apart
when it roamed too close to the faraway star it once orbited,
according to researchers. Scientists have been puzzled by the
origin and nature of 'Oumuamua' since its discovery in 2017,
with some even proposing it may be an alien spacecraft.

Astronomers Yun Zhang and Doug Lin, in research published
this week, said computer simulations indicated it was a
remnant of a planet or planetary building block annihilated
by a star's "tidal forces." 'Oumuamua,' the first object from
another star system found passing through our solar system,
is about a quarter-mile (400 meters) long. Its elongated shape,
curious motion and dry appearance - for instance, lacking a
tail of dust and gases - indicated it is not an ordinary
comet or asteroid.
