Probably not for everyone, but this tool is an easy, interesting and quick reading technology for online material on light screens. For instance, the Ludovici papers. It's free, with minor costs for add ons related to specialized devices. It may have differing appeal for different readers, but I find it easier on the eyes. It takes a bit of practice to get comfortable with the treatment of annotations and numbers that appear in texts, but for plowing through longer works online, it can offer an edge. Install the [spritzlet] by dragging it to the computer toolbar, then go to the page to be read, select-highlight the text and press play, pause or adjust speed. To be clear, I'm not selling anything.

Very interesting. I'll probably have to give Spritz a try.

I have been trying this gizmo out some more, and although it is a little unusual, reading progresses quickly. With no whole text scanning temptations in the visual field, the rate, at whatever you set it, stays constant. Following the punctuation becomes important because there is no whole sentence to see. I went through Ludovici-Cabbott and then The Protocols with very little distraction, which I admit to being prone. It has the effect of speeding up reading a lot. That is, the original comfortable speed was easy to familiarize with after at least one text, and then it felt as though adding 50 or 100wpm wasn't incomprehensible for the next text. It also makes re-reading less onerous, solely because it meters the commitment to a known quant of time.
Curious to hear what your experience is like.
