Impatiently I waited, socks on ears and hands
for naked beer turtle to appear and eye my demands
gurgled half in baritone, half in bass
avoiding laughter that might cost me priceless place
in line alone three nights and one nice day
to hey! in clay underwear what only I dare say
but, every other toe and brother thumbs itch
speaking nothing of bread crumbs and the hide-n-seek switch
on side-ceiling that opens another secret triagonal door
leading to loudmouth steps some up, some down--exactly four
over to a knotted clothes rope floor-climbed
inch-by-inch back to where me were before, only this time
second in line behind some annoying a-hole
reflected in a smoky mirror--and there by the toilet bowl
a dead turtle, empty case of beer, barf in the sink:
I need a pet who can turn a handle and learn how to drink.
