Gentlemen i need your help in translation of "Who we are"
Re: Gentleman i need your help in translation of "Who we are
I came back to my work, chapter №20, page 151 "There has not been a really massive Asian invasion of Europe since the Ottoman
Turks struck in the 14th century -- unless one counts the westward advance of the Red Army
in the Second World War."
What does he mean by struck turks in 14th century?

Interesting. My paperback copy of Who We Are must have more pages than your version, as Chapter 20 begins on page 226, and the quote you mentioned is on page 228. When he says "the Ottoman Turks struck in the 14th century," he means that the most recent Asian attack on Europe was when Turks had attacked and invaded back in the 1300's.Paul wrote:I came back to my work, chapter №20, page 151 "There has not been a really massive Asian invasion of Europe since the Ottomanurks struck in the 14th century -- unless one counts the westward advance of the Red Army

No, I think it's because your version doesn't have any illustrations.Paul wrote:I have only this version of "who we are" http://www.jrbooksonline.com/PDF_Books/ ... %20Are.pdf

Sorry, Paul. It looks like you'll have to ask someone else about those dasyu women. Looks like the dasyu are the darkies, the Indians conquered by the Aryans. The upper caste Aryans mixed with the dasyu women apparently, for centuries.Paul wrote:Guys please don't leave me without any answer!

Thank you very much Will.
Re: Gentleman i need your help in translation of "Who we are
I am not sure how to translate this correctly: chapter #16 " Most of the independent tribes left were those east
of the Elbe." Did the autor means that they leave there land? or they just lived on the left side of the Elba river?

Re: Gentleman i need your help in translation of "Who we are
"left" здесь значит "оставшиеся", "те, что остались/сохранились". Вариант перевода может быть таким: "Большинство племён, сохранивших независимость, жили восточнее Эльбы".Paul wrote:I am not sure how to translate this correctly: chapter #16 " Most of the independent tribes left were those east
