I remember watching television (back in the day, there were only three...NBC,
ABC, and CBS) watching POW McCain crying over how much he missed his
wife and how badly he wanted to go home. This was in late '67 and apparently
where he earned the nickname "Songbird McCain."

My now-deceased parents were also watching. I said something to the effect
about how pathetic to see a grown man beaten down and crying like a baby on
national TV. The Old Man remarked, "That's no man..that's just a (expletive deleted)."
